About the course

The Family Focus intervention is an evidence-based program designed for mental health professionals working with parents experiencing depression and/or anxiety to foster resilience in their children and the family unit.

Who is it for?

  • Experienced clinical mental health professionals
  • Appropriately trained psychologists, social workers, mental health nurses, occupational therapists and general practitioners

Why use it?

  • It’s evidenced based; proven to reduce the risk for children who live with a parent who has a mental illness
  • It’s interactive, practical and engaging – making learning easier

How long does it take?

  • It is estimated at 10-20 hours (there are several video scenarios to watch) – but you can take it at your own pace as it’s accessible 24/7 online.

Professional endorsement

The Family Focus intervention course is professionally endorsed by:

  • ACRRM: 30 PRPD points. 
  • RACGP QI and CPD Program Category 1: 40 points.
  • GPMHSC Focused Psychological Strategies Continuing Professional Development (FPS CPD)
  • ACMHN: 9 points (1.5 CPE points per module)

Members of Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) can accrue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours by participating in CPD activities that they determine to be relevant to their individual professional skills, learning plans and goals. These may be self-initiated. CPD activities do not need to be endorsed by the APS or OT Australia.
